CABLE COMPOUND

Cable compounds are blends of different types of polymers and other additives that are used for insulation, sheathing and bedding of cable applications. Each cable compound can have different specification and recipe based on the end application. These are used in manufacturing of many different types of cables such as Power cables, communication cables, and coaxial cables.

These are some common polymer compounds used in cable applications:

Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) based compounds: These compounds are mainly used in medium to high voltage cable application where high thermal stability, is required along with excellent electrical properties:
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) based compounds: These compounds are mainly used in PVC cables for cable insulation and jacketing.
HFFR Compounds: These compounds are used to make halogen free flame-retardant cables. The main advantage of HFFR compounds is the ability to reduce the emission of smoke during a fire. Widely used in manufacturing of power cables, communication cables, and building wiring.
Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) based compounds: These compounds are used to make low smoke and zero halogen cables. Cables made used LSZH Compounds release less smoke and gases in case any combustion.
